Acting on AIDS - World Vision

Join us Oct. 1 for the Day of Prayer and Advocacy

For the rest of the country, the New Year begins on Jan. 1, but for many organizations as well as the U.S. government, the new fiscal year starts Oct. 1. On this day, each World Vision office around the world stops all daily operations for a day of prayer. This year, we invite you to join in this day of prayer and advocate to God on behalf of a world that needs prayer. We also invite you and your fellow students to commit to pray with us throughout the year. Check out the video below and visit our Day of Prayer and Advocacy page to learn more.

DEADLINE EXTENDED for national Broken Bread

In honor of World Food Day on Oct. 16, we encourage you to join others all across the nation in organizing a Broken Bread poverty meal on campus, in your community, or at your church. It’s a great way to bring groups together, both large and small, to identify with those living in extreme poverty and grapple with how we can respond. Materials are FREE (we only ask a small donation for shipping). We've extended our order deadline to Friday, September 19! Learn more about the Broken Bread meal and how to order.

Stories from the field: How microfinance gives a “hand-up” to the working poor

If you received the Acting on AIDS info packet (download your copy here), you probably read our Microfinance 101 page. This year, we want to journey together to learn more about microfinance and how it helps working women and men in poor countries move out of poverty and sustainably support themselves. Brad Stave, of VisionFund International, writes about how microfinance can break the cycles of poverty and injustice. Check it out.

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

Acting on AIDS is a program started by Christian college students to create awareness and promote activism of the global AIDS pandemic at colleges and universities across the nation. Motivated by their faith in Jesus Christ and with the support of World Vision, college students have formed a network of Acting on AIDS chapters that seeks to change hearts on campus, create awareness in communities, and advocate for those affected by the global AIDS pandemic.
