WHAT:
To respond to the urgent and ongoing needs of residents of American Samoa after last week’s devastating tsunami, World Vision and the University of Washington Huskies will be collecting cash donations at this Saturday’s game.

Manu Tuiasosopo and others are urging fans to “Fill the Helmet” to help traumatized children and families receive much-needed supplies like clothing, personal hygiene items, and medical assistance. With and schools, businesses, and villages completely destroyed and thousands of people living in tents, recovery will be a long process and assistance of any amount is greatly appreciated.

WHEN:
Saturday, October 10th (before, during, and after the game)

WHERE:
Husky Stadium entrance, 3800 Montlake Blvd., Seattle, WA 98105

WHO:
Available for interviews:
Reed Slattery, World Vision

WHY:
On September 29th, an 8.0 earthquake generated a tsunami that struck the islands of Samoa and American Samoa, killing and severely injuring hundreds, sweeping away whole communities, and destroying or badly damaging infrastructure.

World Vision staff are on the ground assessing needs and working through partners to provide emergency items. In addition to urgently needed funds for short-term relief, supplies to help support long-term recovery and rebuilding are being accepted from corporations, such as building supplies, cleaning items, and school supplies.
