World Vision partners with local organizations to host Holiday events and distribute Toys for children

WASHINGTON D.C., December 15, 2010--

1. World Vision and the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) bring children and families of Hope House a winter wonderland experience on Thursday, December 16. Children from single-parent homes at Hope House will enjoy a celebration of wonderful food, music, and friends; with gifts and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. In addition, families will receive family packs with miscellaneous personal care items donated by World Vision and packed by staff and volunteers of LAYC.

2. World Vision and Family Matters of Greater Washington will host The Angel Tree Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, December 22. An event that supports Angel Tree Ministries (children of incarcerated parents, referred to as Angels), the Holiday Celebration brings volunteers from the Family Matters senior program to decorate and wrap presents to the World Vision warehouse where up to 150 children will enjoy food, entertainment, gifts and a visit from Santa Claus. Additionally, Family Matters staff will provide resources and support for Angels’ caregivers.

Partners: World Vision receives product donations year-round from corporations across the nation. Hasbro, a long-time partner, has donated the toys that will be distributed to local children at both of these events
