World Vision creates “Santa’s Workshop” and opens storehouse for volunteers to sort and package toys going to needy families in the Bronx area
BRONX, NY, December 15, 2010--This holiday season,
World Vision is providing families and groups an opportunity to get involved with "Santa's Workshop." On Saturday, December 18, World Vision’s Bronx warehouse will host volunteers to help sort "Santa's" toys going to needy families.
Each holiday season, World Vision receives Christmas toy wish lists from homeless shelters, churches, schools, etc., presently serving children and families, including toy items. The Bronx facility distributes toys to partner organizations in Bronx and Washington Heights, and this season, expects to distribute nearly 20,000 toys.
Families and groups can help sort toys in World Vision's Bronx warehouse for each wish list. This hands-on volunteer opportunity is ideal for families and groups who want to give back during the holiday season. World Vision will provide volunteers with stocking caps and hot chocolate.
Groups like
Build On who work with local high school students for community service projects and international service projects will be on-site at the December 18 event as well.
