A Poem to the Deauville G8

From the land that produced Dumas and Voltaire
We hoped for actions of panache and flair
To see our leaders show they care
To end child deaths and slow despair.

Instead we have some affirmations
Efforts, pushes, equivocations,
Obscurity and obfuscations,
A soufflé of Gallic declarations.

Still, let’s pray this will not wither and pall,
That it sound a clear and clarion call
That will inspire, unite and galvanise all
To santé and égalité for great and small.
