What is World Vision? What do you do?

World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children, families, and communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

We help transform the lives of the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries, including the United States, through interventions such as nutrition and safe drinking water programs, poverty relief and community development programs, disaster assistance, and more. Our non-profit work extends assistance to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs, gender, race, or ethnic background.

In what countries does World Vision work?

Here’s a list and map of the nearly 100 countries in which World Vision works.

How does World Vision send funds overseas?

Generally, funds are transferred by wire twice a month. Funds transferred in any given month reflect the dictates of our annual budget rather than actual monies received during that month. This ensures consistent support for projects, even during times of slower giving. World Vision regional offices monitor the cash flow, as well as currency fluctuations that can affect World Vision’s work, to make sure funds arrive as needed.

Major disasters may require an immediate response; World Vision transfers funds to the field more frequently if necessary.

How can I send a memorial gift in honor of another individual?

Remembering a departed loved one or honoring a friend or family member through your contribution to World Vision’s ministry is a wonderful way to express your love and caring.

Send your check or money order to:

World Vision
Attn: Memorial or In Honor of (whichever is appropriate)
P.O. Box 9716
Federal Way, WA 98063-9716

Enclose a note also including your name and address (with zip code), the name and address of the person(s) to whom you would like an acknowledgment sent, and the relationship between you, if that is important.

If there is a particular area of need toward which you would like to contribute — such as child malnutrition, child protection, global disaster response, our work in the United States, etc. — please also indicate this in your note.

What should I do if I receive a suspicious email that purports to come from World Vision and asks for confidential financial information?

World Vision, like many other charitable agencies, has been the subject of recent fraudulent attempts to obtain bank details of partners, supporters, and unconnected parties.

The common theme is an email communication purporting to come from World Vision, informing the recipient that he/she has been awarded a substantial cash grant. The recipient is invited to register details with the sender in order to collect the cash sum.

World Vision does not make cash awards of this nature, and this communication is bogus. If you receive such an email, please do not register your details with the sender under any circumstances. Instead, either delete the email or forward it in its entirety (including header information) to info@worldvision.org.

We will do all we can to notify the appropriate authorities and follow up to try to identify the perpetrators, but unfortunately, we cannot prevent such communications from being circulated.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
