Youth engagement

Michele Tvedt is a youth engagement expert at World Vision in Federal Way, WA. Michele’s heart for youth began at the age of 12 when, in an effort to help her peers understand the world around them, she began leading them in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine. Seeing the way her group was impacted by helping children around the world, Michele’s heart for youth expanded to the poor around the world. At age 14, Michele began rallying local youth leaders together for the Famine, drawing in groups from 200-1,100 students.

At seventeen, Michele was hired by World Vision to assist youth leaders with fundraising, speaking, and coordinating events for the 30 Hour Famine. Since then she has also served on the World Vision Experiential Engagement Team reaching out to 45,000 volunteers. Michele earned the B.A. degree in Political Economy from the University of Washington with a focus in non-profit management and human rights. In 2009, Michele once again joined the 30 Hour Famine team, and has traveled around the world with American youth to see the impact of the 30 Hour Famine involvement.
