Phyllis Freeman became World Vision's Director for Disaster Response in March of 2009 after 12 years of service in the field with World Vision. She leads World Vision's response to emergencies throughout the western U.S. Among her many accomplishments, Freeman opened World Vison's Storehouse operations in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Picayune, provided oversight to the disaster management work related to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and most recently provided field site leadership for World Vision's work in Los Angeles.
