What is Twitter?

Twitter is a service that allows people to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages (called “tweets”) online or on a mobile phone. Twitter users post tweets or messages in 140 characters or less. Twitter users receive other users’ tweets by “following” them. Users may set preferences to allow others to follow them. Twitter users can also send private direct messages to each other.

How does World Vision use Twitter?

World Vision uses the Twitter handle “WorldVisionNews” to inform and interact in real time with members of the news media interested in humanitarian emergencies, international development efforts and story tips both in the U.S. and overseas. World Vision tweets often include links to press releases, photos or other articles relevant to current humanitarian issues.


How do I subscribe?

To subscribe to Twitter, create a username and password at http://twitter.com. Once registered, follow WorldVisionNews on Twitter.
