"When I opened my heart to sponsoring my first child, I thought I was helping to change a life, but little did I know God was using it to change me. God gave me a heart for children, but World Vision gave me a heart for the world. This last year has been incredible for me, although it hasn't always been easy. The Lord has pushed me out of my box, time and time again, but each time He has given me the strength to do what He has asked of me. I have seen Him come through for me, but only after teaching me to wait patiently on His perfect timing. He has taught me that He only asks of me to be faithful, nothing more, and He has drawn me closer and closer to Him. I have felt His presence and I have heard His voice. Being a Child Ambassador has given me a heart that wants to serve Him. The closeness I have with Him gives me the courage to stand up and share the joy of child sponsorship with others. I know this is just the beginning of the journey He has me on and I know even bigger and better things lie ahead. Praise the Lord!!" -- Barbara S.
"I have always had compassion for suffering children, but God has really turned it into a burning desire to help children since becoming a Child Ambassador. I have been praying that God would use me to convey to people the need that these children have and how badly they need help for the circumstances that they cannot control. My husband and I are seeing more every day that God is calling us to foreign missions of some sort, whether it will be directly through orphanages or some other way, but we just know we have to do MORE to help the worlds orphans. So clearly God has changed my heart, but making it clear that this is no longer a volunteer position, but a life change and potential full time job." -- Louanne M.
"In the beginning of this journey serving as a Child Ambassador, God simply pressed on my heart the needs of children around the world. Today, He has enriched that emotion and placed an ambition in me to want to educate other's whenever I can. I believe the Lord has changed my heart from "saving the world" to educating other's so that they can have the blessing of knowing what it is like to give to another. So not only am I called to be an Ambassador for the children that need us, but also to be an inspiration to let others - this is a double win!" --Tracy R.
"My heart has been broken for the poor and children for a while, but I think that being a child ambassador has given me new insight into how God is working in the world and that one child at a time things can happen and people can make a difference. I know that many seeds have been planted and this has given me great joy!" -- Amy K.
"Although I have been a child sponsor for years until I became a Child Ambassador I wasn't as involved with the children I sponsored. The knowledge and reality of how others live in such poverty as I have read the materials has shown me how unaware I have been about the world outside the United States. Being connected with a village in Kenya has really bonded me with the people there, even though I have never met them. I realize that I can make a difference in their lives even though I'm way over here. I WANT to make a difference in their lives. God has given me a real love for all people through this experience." -- Brenda F.
"God has showed me that I am only his hands and feet. That I am not in control of what happens, but that he uses me to help the children." -- Brenda R.
"Being a Child Ambassador gives me a great feeling inside. I have three children of my own and we sponsor 4 children. And God has it on my heart to raise my children to the best of my ability in Him. Sponsoring children is wonderful and I feel it is a gift for my own children that we can help others.
"But God had put it on my heart to do more. I wanted to do some type of volunteer work for the Lord. I was led one day to the World Vision website and I read the information about becoming a Child Ambassador. After praying about it, I knew that there were other areas of my life where I needed to take a "step back", and put my "foot forward" and become a Child Ambassador for World Vision. My heart has been changed by God so that I now have a desire to learn what is happing to children not just in my area, but around the world. I have a thirst for the knowledge of how children are being treated in other countries and how AIDS is affecting people in other countries. As a Child Ambassador, I see that I can help some of these people." -- Mary Ellen T.
"Denis and I had sponsored children for the last 3 years. Our lives were changed when we went to Lesotho last May and met our sponsored children. We saw how WV changes not only the lives of these children but the community and future generations. God is moving mountains through WV and we are pleased to be able to serve the Lord by being WV CAs.
We have such a compassion in our hearts and we just want to tell everyone what we have experienced in Lesotho; how God is working through WV and about child sponsorship." -- Denis and Anita G.
"I have learned that God is in control and He gives me such joy when He uses me to help his children. Being a Child Ambassador is definitely something God has called me to be." -- Vicki C.
"My purpose is to find more sponsors, to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, and to build bridges that will last a lifetime." -- Mark K.
"...it's not me that brings the 'right' person/heart to a child in need, but God. I saw God bring sponsors as soon as William (my son) and I prayed." -- Carrie D. |
