Giving Toolbox: At School

Share the benefits of giving with your students

Using the Giving Toolbox with your school or class can:

  • Build school spirit by uniting your students with a common purpose
  • Provide a meaningful way for students to make a difference together
  • Teach the value of giving in a classroom setting
  • Involve your students with real-world issues by helping them learn about poverty and how they can respond
  • Support curriculum with a fun holiday or seasonal activity — Christmas, Easter, or spring
  • Turn fundraising into an exciting and eye-opening experience

Plus, your school or class will get a certificate as a remembrance of what they've done to help children in need!

Free resources make it simple!

We'll provide you with everything you need for a fun, easy experience. Your kit includes:

  • A DVD with inspirational videos — experience other cultures, learn how the Gift Catalog has changed lives around the world, see how others have used the Giving Toolbox, and inspire your class or school to action
  • A poster to remind your students of their goal — personalize and hang in a prominent place in your classroom or hallways
  • A PowerPoint presentation to introduce the project to your class (and/or to print and send home to parents) — use as-is after personalizing with your school's goal, or use as a template to share your own message
  • Basic information sheet about your class event — edit, print and copy, and send home to parents
  • Customizable flyer to spread the news to students, parents, and teachers — choose a photo from our collection and create your own unique announcement

A few fundraising ideas for your students

Choose from this list, or encourage your students to come up with their own ideas!

  • Select Gift Catalog items to create a class or school goal.
  • Start a change drive and have your class fill a large container with coins.
  • Host a bake sale.
  • Encourage group fundraising projects and celebrate the completion of the projects with an ice cream or pizza party.
  • Host a read-a-thon — students can ask relatives, neighbors, and others to sponsor them based on the number of books or pages they read.

Keep the momentum going by reviewing your progress together regularly!

One school's story: Bringing "change to the world"

The students of North Heights Christian Academy in Roseville, MN, brought “change to the world” in more than one sense. By filling a 6-foot plastic tube with change, they raised $3,200 to purchase 15 goats, 30 fruit trees, 10 shares of a well, five shares of a health clinic, and several other Gift Catalog items to change the lives of families in need.

Be touched by their powerful stories. Be encouraged by the hope in their smiles. See how the Gift Catalog changes lives.
