Volunteers change lives
It's easy for you to change the lives of hundreds of children through the Sponsorship Display Program.
What is Child Sponsorship?
Child Sponsorship transforms the lives of children in need by helping to remove the obstacles that poverty places in their path. By sponsoring a child, caring individuals can develop a long-term, meaningful relationship with one special child while providing the resources they need to break free from poverty.
Child sponsorship:
- Gives new hope. Nearly 26,000 children die every day, most from hunger or preventable diseases.1 And more than 150 million children in developing countries are malnourished. Child Sponsorship addresses these critical issues by providing access to nutritious food, clean water, and health care that can help children thrive.
- Offers a child a brighter future. More than 110 million school-aged children aren’t in school.2 Child Sponsorship provides school supplies, pays school fees, and helps build or repair schools so children get the education they need.
- Shows God’s love. A sponsor’s letter and the tangible help provided through our work are faithful expressions of God’s love.
- Provides lasting change. By combining the gifts of sponsors, we are able to offer resources like community wells, new health clinics, and income-generating opportunities that benefit sponsored children, their families, their communities, and other children in need.

Why be a Sponsorship Display Volunteer?
Sponsorship Display Volunteers make a real and lasting difference in children’s lives. As a Volunteer, you can link children living in poverty with compassionate friends who can help, simply by setting up and stocking sponsorship displays!
How does the program work?
It takes just two easy steps to help transform children’s lives as a Sponsorship Display Volunteer.
1. Place displays with hope inspiring brochures in highly visible community locations, inviting caring people to sponsor a child. Some locations that work
well are:
- Churches
- Your workplace
- Local schools
- Restaurants
- Doctors’ or dentists’ offices
- Dry cleaners
- Banks
2.
Stay in touch with the business owner or manager so you can restock the brochures when needed.
Personal Impact Updates
As a Sponsorship Display Volunteer, you’ll get to know exactly how many lives you’ve impacted!
Here’s how it works:

|
- You will receive a unique code to write in the brochures you display. When someone sends in a sponsor form, this code tells us that your help made that sponsorship possible.
|

|
|

|
- We’ll send you periodic updates on how many children’s lives have been changed thanks to you.
|

|
|

|
- We encourage you to share this information with the businesses that host your displays so they can know the difference they've made for children too.

Mariam’s Story

Impact: A life-changing difference for one special child
Hundreds of children like 9-year-old Mariam could be helped because of you. Mariam lives with her mother and two sisters in a one-room apartment in poverty stricken Gyumri, Armenia. Several years ago the girls’ father left the country to look for work, and never returned—leaving the family with no means of support.
Often, the best their mother could feed them was sugar water. Sona, the youngest, became so malnourished that her hair was falling out in patches.
Everything changed when the three girls were chosen to be sponsored. Mariam and her sisters now enjoy three good, hot meals a day at school. Mariam has become a diligent student who aspires to be a teacher. And the children know they are loved. Every letter from their sponsors is treasured, with the newest always tucked beneath their pillows.
World Vision sponsorship is life-changing for children like Mariam because it ensures that Mariam and her sister have access to things like clean water, health care, improved nutrition, and education.
