Being fitted for your running shoes at a running specialty store is extremely important for preventing injury. Running shoes are designed to correct any small (or large) issues in your stride/foot strike that, if left uncorrected, can cause injury over time. Over-pronation (when your foot rolls too far inwards toward your instep) and under-pronation (when your foot does not roll enough) can both be corrected by being fitted for the correct type of shoe. You will want to go to a running specialty store and have them watch you run to determine what type of running shoe you should buy.

Try Dick Ponds in Carpentersville, New Balance in Chicago, or Fleet Feet.
