Q: Do you send volunteers overseas?
A: Because our overseas development projects are managed and operated in partnership with the local community, we do not send volunteers or interns overseas. We recruit qualified local volunteers since they speak the same language and understand the culture of the people. This also provides local volunteers the opportunity to develop skills. World Vision does have international job opportunities, which are listed at the WVI website at www.wvi.org.
Q: I am from another country. Can I volunteer with World Vision US?
We frequently receive requests from international students and individuals who are interested in interning or volunteering with World Vision United States. Unfortunately, World Vision U.S. does not have the staff, nor the resources to accommodate these requests due to the complexity of issues involved.
We encourage you to contact a World Vision office near you for opportunities to become involved. Please visit our World Vision International website at www.wvi.org to find contact information for many of our World Vision International offices. If you are located in Africa, you may also visit our World Vision Africa website at www.wvafrica.org for opportunities in your area.
Q: What types of volunteer jobs do you offer?
A: Data entry, filing, general office support, customer service, event planning, special projects, and sorting. Some volunteer jobs are based on the skill and experience of the volunteer.
Q: How many hours do you require from volunteers?
A: We will coordinate a schedule based on the volunteer’s availability and the department’s need. Most volunteers work one to two days per week for 4-16 hours total. We do ask a minimum commitment of three months.
