"…In my opinion, the single most significant thing that can be done to cure extreme poverty is this: protect, educate, and nurture girls and women and provide them with equal rights and opportunities – educationally, economically, and socially."–Rich Stearns, President, World Vision US, The Hole in Our Gospel
"No tool for development is more effective than the empowerment of women."–Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General
Women of Vision is a volunteer ministry of World Vision, mobilizing and uniting women called to invest their time, intellect, compassion, creativity, and finances so impoverished women and children might find hope and experience a tangible expression of God's love.
We are women of diverse ages, backgrounds, and circumstances, united to serve and walk alongside those in need, near and far away, so that, together, we can help create a brighter and healthier future for suffering women and children.
With over 35 chapters (and growing) around the U.S., you can join a chapter in your area, start a chapter, or participate online through wov.onthecity.org.
Local chapters of Women of Vision meet regularly to:
- Pray
- Educate ourselves and our communities on global and local issues of poverty and injustice, including why and how God calls us to serve
- Advocate for issues and amplify the voice of those in most need
- Serve in our own community
- Support selected World Vision projects and development activities which most impact women, their families and communities (water, microfinance and economic development, education, maternal/child health and protection from injustice)
New! Join Women of Vision online:
Wov.onthecity.org is a private online community just for Women of Vision.
You will connect with a global movement of women around issues and ideas, be updated with news that matters to you, share best practices among chapters and groups, pray together, develop leadership skills, share important topics, stories and photos, watch videos, plan vision trips and communicate with like-minded friends anywhere.
Each WOV chapter has its own online group, but there is also a "virtual" chapter for our online only Women of Vision. Yes! We hope every woman of vision will join wov.onthecity.org.
You control your experience on the City and the site will be tailored to just what you want to see, receive and share.
