We've all heard the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words." In Washington, D.C., a phone call is worth a thousand e-mails.
This World AIDS Day, pick up the phone and raise your voice for AIDS-affected mothers and children. Ask your elected officials to recommit themselves to the fight against AIDS.
When you call, be sure to say that you want Congress to keep its promise to provide $7.2 billion this year to stop the spread of HIV and care for those affected by the disease—especially mothers and children.
What’s at stake:
Last year, Congress passed the Global AIDS, TB and Malaria bill, a five-year, $48 billion commitment to help stop AIDS and other deadly diseases. In order to keep its promise and remain on track, Congress must allocate $7.2 billion in 2010 for HIV-prevention and care programs.
Make the call; look up your senators' phone numbers and log your call. Call anytime. You can leave a message.
