To start:
- Talk with friends, church members, neighbors, and co-workers and invite them to learn more about Women of Vision, World Vision, and your desire to start a chapter.
- Form a team of committed Christian women who have a significant network of people who can help generate awareness of the plight of the poor and World Vision’s work.
- Facilitate the Women of Vision cross-cultural study, “The Heart of the Matter,” to better understand how major issues affect the lives of women and children around the world and how as Christians we can respond.
- Establish a leadership team of 10 to 16 women. This team will come together at least monthly to lead your chapter’s efforts to engage others with the plight of the poor.
Here are the details involved in starting a chapter:
- Review World Vision’s mission, core values, and Statement of Faith with the members of your Leadership Board and be willing to agree with them.
- Meet and train with the National Women of Vision team.
- Engage in the Women of Vision cross-cultural study, “The Heart of the Matter,” to learn more about World Vision, women living in poverty, and God’s heart for the poor.
- Working with World Vision, determine the projects you would like your chapter to financially support over the course of the first year.
- Set your first-year commitment of $25,000 for World Vision projects, with a goal of increasing your fundraising in subsequent years.
- Host fundraisers and other special events to involve your local community with the chapter’s ministry and mission.
- Round out your schedule with educational gatherings, monthly board meetings, partnership meetings, and “friend-raiser” events.
- When your chapter has raised $70,000-$100,000, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the projects your group has supported!
