Lobbying is similar to advocacy in that it involves speaking on behalf of another person or cause, but in this case it entails taking a position for or against a specific piece of legislation or policy.
World Vision both advocates and lobbies to advance justice for the world's poor. Why? Because certain laws and policies can help address the current needs of the poor and oppressed, as well as the root causes, rather than just treating the symptoms.
So, whether you are advocating or lobbying, you are exercising civic responsibility, and, in many ways, Christian stewardship. These activities can allow us to act in the image of God by serving the poor and helpless.
