World Vision’s Response
World Vision’s child sponsorship program changes the lives of children in need by helping their entire community find lasting solutions to poverty. Thanks to the caring commitment of our sponsors, we can work side-by-side with communities to provide children and families with basic life necessities — things like clean water, health care, education, and hope for a better future.
Child Sponsorship
- Child Water and Sanitation | World Vision helps ensure health for poor children through resources like borehole wells that provide a steady supply of clean water; storage tanks and earthen dams that supply water to crops and livestock; and enclosed latrines that limit contamination.
- Health care | World Vision helps build and restore health clinics that are providing resources like prenatal and baby care, vaccinations, and HIV/AIDS prevention and care.
- Food and Agriculture | World Vision teaches animal husbandry and innovative farming techniques like terracing of crops and fish farms to increase production of meats, vegetables, and grains so children have healthy diets. We also create seed banks and demonstration nurseries that show how to grow cash crops like fruit-bearing trees.
- Education | World Vision helps supply school uniforms and fees, distributes school supplies, and repairs, builds, and furnisheds classrooms and schools so children get the education they need to break free from poverty.
- Economic Development | World Vision enables hardworking but poor families to overcome poverty by providing small business loans and vocational training in things areas like carpentry and tailoring. The goal is to create “economic engines” that generate jobs and improve standards of living.

Your Opportunity to Help
As a child sponsor, you will be connected to one special child who will know your name, write to you, and experience your care in tangible ways.
Your monthly pledge will demonstrate God’s love by providing your sponsored child and his or her community with access to life’s most basic necessities.
Your gift will make an impact. For example:
- $35 per month will demonstrate God’s love to your sponsored child and his or her community by providing access to things such as clean water, better nutrition, quality health care, and education.
- $35 per month will demonstrate God’s love to your sponsored HopeChild and his or her HIV/AIDS affected community by providing access to basic necessities, age-appropriate biblically-based HIV/AIDS prevention training, and programs to mobilize local churches and care networks to provide additional care and prevention.
A gift of any amount will help meet urgent education needs so that more children can achieve their God-given potential.

Sona's Story
Sona, 5, lives with her mother and two sisters in a one-room apartment in poverty-stricken Gyumri, Armenia. Before she was sponsored, Sona was so malnourished that her hair was falling out in patches. Now, she enjoys good health — thanks to three hot meals a day at her school, which was refurbished by World Vision. And Sona cherished her sponsor's letters, always keeping the newest under her pillow.
"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me."
