More About Chris

Chris’ Biography

As the senior vice president of transformational development, Chris is driven by his desire to make things better. “I look at ways we can be more focused, more effective in reaching out to donors, and more purposeful in our work here in the United States and around the world,” he says.

Chris first developed a connection with World Vision as a child sponsor. An executive leader for more than 23 years, Chris has helped transform organizations to become more efficient, successful, and effective in the work they do. In 2010, he began to feel that God was calling him to use his gifts for a greater purpose, and he joined in the work of World Vision.

Chris loves his current role. “I’m proud to work with such amazing and gifted people,” he says. Every day Chris is able to use his experience from the corporate world to help improve World Vision’s ministry.

Recently Chris had the opportunity to see World Vision’s ministry up close. He traveled to Niger, ranked by the U.N.’s Human Development Index as the world’s poorest country. There, he visited a community health center with which World Vision had begun partnering.

“I saw 400 mothers with children suffering from severe acute malnutrition,” he recalls. But instead of feeling despair, Chris experienced hope. “I saw opportunities to improve our work for the countries we support and make a greater difference in the lives of the children we serve.”

One of the ways Chris is helping World Vision improve is by encouraging corporations to donate their “first fruits,” not just their surplus, to have a greater impact on people in need. “I try to show that their donation will have more value with World Vision than anywhere else because of the organization’s holistic approach to ministry,” Chris explains. “When they donate to us, their products are combined with other interventions that help meet fundamental needs.”

A motivating and engaging speaker, Chris challenges his audiences to take a closer look at the purpose of serving, and to become more effective in the way that they serve. “It’s simple,” he says. “We need to be bolder and more passionate as we carry out God’s work.”

Chris holds an MBA with a focus on strategic quality management from Eastern Michigan University and a BBA in management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Married with two children, Chris lives in Seattle and attends Grace Community Church, where he has been involved as a leader of the AWANA ministry. He also serves as a girls’ high school basketball coach at Seattle Christian School.
