More About Megan

Megan’s Biography

Megan comes to World Vision with a professional background in corporate event planning, but after being challenged to “step out, and be a blessing in a world of oppression,” she felt a strong call to do more to serve the world’s poor.

She followed the Lord’s call, which took her to Cape Town, South Africa, to study the AIDS pandemic and the affect it was having on families and communities. It was there that the she prayed for the Lord to break her heart for the things that break the heart of Christ (coincidentally, the prayer of World Vision founder Bob Pierce) and she experienced firsthand the devastation that AIDS has ravaged on the continent of Africa.

Unwilling and unable to forget the painful realities of the crisis, she returned to the United States in search of how our nation would learn and respond to those in need. It was then, in 2008, that the Lord brought her to World Vision, where she had the opportunity to help tell the stories of the children in Africa whose lives touched hers, as she worked with churches across the country to bring the realities of AIDS in Africa to life through World Vision’s Step into Africa exhibit.

As Megan told World Vision’s story around the country and had the honor to see the work operate firsthand in the field, she grew more passionate about World Vision’s transformational development model and our dedicated staff who work relentlessly to empower people living in developing countries to find sustainable solutions to their poverty situations. She was inspired to learn more about transformational development and tackling the root causes of poverty and recently completed her master’s degree in international development at Northwest University.

As a result, Megan is now working to educate, empower, and supply World Vision’s dedicated volunteers with tools and resources to help fulfill World Vision’s foundational mission: to see children experience life in all its fullness.
