The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) — which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV and AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 — form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and leading development institutions. They have galvanized and unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.

Get Involved
- Pray that Americans will deepen their concern for people suffering from extreme poverty and AIDS; that Americans get involved and speak out for the poor; and for the G-8 leaders — that they act with compassion and boldness to take historic action for the poor.
- Advocate. Ask Congress to increase funding for the 2009 international affairs budget as one way to do our part to achieve the Millennium Development Goals .
