Distribution Centers
Our GIK Distribution Centers in Pittsburgh, PA and Denver, CO, handle the receiving, processing and shipments of these products World Vision distributes these products overseas through its international offices in over 90 countries.
Gifts-In-Kind Core Purpose: To create and enhance ministry by obtaining, processing and distributing high quality donated product that links corporations, volunteers, the Church and community with the poor worldwide.
Gifts-in-kind (GIK) products are a company’s first quality, excess inventory donated to assist those in need. Commonly needed GIK items include: pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, clothing, shoes, personal care items and school supplies. These items are a priceless resource to the ministry of World Vision.

Working in the sort room
Before donations can be shipped overseas, they must be sorted and repacked to match the requests of the World Vision international offices. Because each donation is unique, the volunteers are trained on the specifics for processing that have been asked of us by the donor. We are working to insure that we are sending a high value needed resource to our programs around the world.
Hundreds of churches, para-church organizations, and civic groups make up the force behind the hands-on ministry. World Vision has the opportunity to encourage healthy people of all ages to help the ministry of World Vision and be blessed for their involvement, in helping others in this tangible way.
In a given year more than 3,000 volunteers will be a part of making a difference in the lives of adults and children. World Vision is helping to impact lives in the Pittsburgh and Denver areas, giving volunteers the opportunity to make an impact for the world.
Working in the office
Volunteers and interns are also needed to assist in the office. If you have a desire to improve your office skills assignments include mailings, database management, and other special projects as they arise. College students and those looking to get back into the workforce have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the ministry of World Vision through the internship program. The internship equips the student in their education of what nonprofit development work is all about.
