Hope Prayer Chain: March 2008

Pray ...

  • FOR the 100,000 people who were infected with HIV in Latin America in 2007, bringing the region's total number of HIV infections to 1.6 million people.
  • FOR a decrease in stigma and discrimination against HIV-affected people, which hinders efforts toward HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support.
  • FOR strengthened human rights and gender equity programs that help to protect women in Latin America from HIV.
  • FOR people who are marginalized — either through culture, racial or religious exclusion, or other causes — and who are living lifestyles that make them vulnerable to contracting HIV.
  • THAT HIV issues would be considered in the fair-trade certification process in the Latin American coffee industry, which will establish humane working conditions among coffee growers and create sustainable employment.
