Put together a SchoolTools Kit

In your neighborhood, basic school supplies such as pencils, pens and notebooks may not seem difficult to acquire, but every fall, millions of children start school without these supplies in hand, even in the United States. Instead of starting the school year excited for successes, they begin ashamed and unprepared to acquire important life skills.

To help these children regain their dignity and to help them succeed, World Vision has developed the SchoolTools project. This project provides valuable school materials so all children, regardless of where they live, can receive what should come without limitations—a valuable education. The SchoolTools kits you make will go directly to children in need in Chicago.

Getting involved is easy. You, your church’s Youth Group, Sunday School, small group, schools or companies can assemble the SchoolTools kits.

Inventory List
Please make sure that each kit is uniform in contents. Including the same items in each kit will ensure that no child is disappointed by receiving less than what another child receives.

Each kit needs to contain the following items in the stated quantities:
  • Six wooden pencils without designs
  • Six medium ballpoint pens—blue or black ink
  • One wide-ruled one subject notebook
  • One package wide-ruled, three hole punched, filler paper
  • One barrel pencil sharpener
  • One large pink eraser
  • One package (24 count) regular-size crayons
  • One 12-inch ruler (including metric measurements)
  • One large or two small glue sticks
  • One pair ambidextrous, blunt tip, school scissors

1. Please place all items in a 2-gallon resealable plastic bag.
2. Print a special mailing label and affix it to your box.
3. Mail your box (or drop it off) and provide much needed school supplies for a child in Chicago.
