Welcome to World Vision Seattle & Tacoma

Today, like every day, 6000 children will lose a parent to AIDS. Yet there is hope. World Vision offers meaningful ways right here in the Puget Sound for you to make a difference for children in need.

Come and visit the The World Vision Experience: AIDS, a 2,500-square-foot interactive exhibit where visitors step into Africa and experience life as a child affected by AIDS. The Experience takes the participant on a deeply personal journey into the life of a young person who has lost one or both parents to AIDS. It features a stirring audio tour combined with captivating photography that will transport the viewer into the heart of Africa. It is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Parental discretion is advised for children under the age of 12 because of the sensitivity of the material.

Mayor of Tacoma Challenges the City

Baarsma, on his recent trip to Lesotho.
The Mayor of Tacoma, Bill Baarmsa, is challenging the citizens of Greater Pierce County to help children devastated by AIDS in Lesotho, Africa.

Mayor Baarsma is calling on business, city and church leaders to respond. He is calling on individuals within Tacoma to respond. He is calling you to respond.

Ways to Get Involved

1. Sponsor a child from Lesotho: Personally, you can sponsor a child from Lesotho, or share sponsorship of children with your business, community or church.

2. Help orphans in Lesotho: By partnering with the community of Sekameng, your donation can develop needed resources like clean water, education, agricultural development, healthcare and economic development.

3. Assemble Caregiver Kits: Help the city of Tacoma and the greater Pierce County reach their goal of building 10,000 caregiver kits that will provide home-based care for those living with HIV AIDS in Sekamang, Lesotho. Sekameng is a small country in Africa that has been devasted by HIV AIDS.

Your family, school, business or church can come alongside caregivers in the fight against AIDS. Assemble Caregiver Kits and help fight the AIDS pandemic in a tangible way. You will:
  • Equip caregivers with the practical materials they need
  • Encourage caregivers to continue caring selflessly for their neighbors.
