World Vision’s work in metropolitan New York
and the tri-state area
World Vision New York works to meet basic needs in the tri-state area, unite and empower local communities, and transform lives across the globe. We work alongside communities here in the U.S. to build a rich network of resources, people, and opportunities that can help children thrive—focusing on youth and leadership development, providing essential supplies to families in need, and connecting community resources.
We serve more than 100,000 people in need each year, including children and their families in all five New York City boroughs and surrounding suburbs in Long Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
New York – The most impoverished rich city in the nation
In the very heart of America’s successful business capital:
- One in three children lives below the federal poverty line
- 1.7 million people are impoverished
- 42 percent of the children in the Bronx live below the poverty level
