A Silent Epidemic
- 48 is the average life expectancy for a person with HIV or AIDS in the Bronx.
- Over 20,000 people are living with HIV or AIDS in the Bronx.
AIDS: not just a global crisis
The AIDS pandemic is the most far-reaching and devastating humanitarian crisis in our world today. And it’s hit hard here at home too—there are more people living with AIDS in the Bronx than there are in 41 states.
Taking steps at home to fight AIDS
We support Bronx organizations treating those affected by the disease through our Health Products Center—which distributes donated health and hygiene products to community partners who are meeting the medical needs of the community.
We also work to stop the spread of the disease by supporting local HIV education and awareness through HIV and AIDS curriculum offered at our Vision Youth Institute.
Here's what your donation can do:
- $200 – Provides a 12-hour course on HIV & AIDS education to five community partners.
- $2,500 – Provides a community health partner with over-the-counter medical supplies for one month, benefiting an average of 100 clients.
- $5,500 – Covers the operating costs of the Heath Products Center for a month.
