World Vision's programs in
the United States

Our vision is to give every child the chance to thrive and experience life in all its fullness. Through partnerships in 11 major urban and rural communities across the United States, we address needs at home through three main programs: the Storehouse, Education and Youth Development and Emergency Response and Disaster Relief.

Providing essentials:
The Storehouse

The Storehouse of World Vision works in key cities across the nation to meet needs for essential personal, home, and school supplies. These warehouses receive corporate donations of new, top-quality goods and make them available to local churches and organizations for distribution to those in need. Local leaders identify the critical basics that children and families in their communities need — such as warm clothing, safe shelter, and school supplies.

Equipping leaders:
Emergency Response and Disaster Relief

In an emergency we see our role as a key partner, able to convene, coordinate and supply the efforts of local community and faith-based organizations, to effectively respond to crisis and disaster. Through our Emergency Response and Disaster Relief Program we work to build the capacity of our community-based partners. In times of crisis, families and communities turn to familiar and local organizations for help. We are in a unique position to equip local churches and their leaders to be effective first responders.

Growing futures:
Education and Youth Development

To grow and sustain long-term improvements in U.S. communities, World Vision invests in the next generation through our Education and Youth Development Programs. In partnership with volunteers, churches and community groups we provide mentoring, tutoring, training and opportunities to engage, to children and youth in high risk situations. We seek to redirect youthful energies towards positive and constructive activities by opening their minds and spirits to their own potential and gifts. We seek to broaden their vision of the world and their role in it.
