Consider the poor when you consider the presidential candidates

World Vision does not endorse political candidates. However, as a Christian humanitarian aid organization based upon biblical principles, we strongly encourage voters to weigh each candidate's position and record on poverty-related issues.

Speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and the needy.
—Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV)

Whether by policy or funding, perhaps no single person today has the potential to help the poor as much as the president of the United States. His or her influence over the U.S. economy — and over the U.S. foreign aid budget — has a monumental impact upon the destinies of hundreds of millions of forgotten, vulnerable children and families here and across the globe.

Speak up for the poor

World Vision does not endorse political candidates. Yet as a Christian humanitarian organization that adheres to the biblical directive to care for the poor and oppressed, we urge our supporters to examine the candidates' positions and records on poverty-related issues when casting a vote for our next president.

On the campaign trail this year, the candidates have been presented with the concerns and requests of various special interest groups across the country. Yet the world's largest population group — more than 1 billion people who live on less than $1 a day — have few to advocate for them. Will you speak up for the poor?

Top humanitarian priorities

Use your voice to raise poverty-related issues with the candidates at town hall meetings and rallies in the final weeks before Election Day. Join with World Vision to speak up for these top humanitarian priorities:

Be sure to also check out World Vision's advocacy site for more information about these issues — and the millions of lives at stake.

Finally, speak up for the poor in the voting booth on Election Day.
