Our office in China reports that there is an urgent need for warm clothing and shelter to assist thousands of affected children and families. One of our teams began distributing 15,000 quilts in Hunan. We plan to distribute more than 40,000 quilts to about 80,000 people in the four storm-weary provinces.
Severe winter weather, which has lasted for nearly three weeks, has created havoc across 17 provinces and regions in China, killing at least 60 people and destroying an estimated 220,000 houses. Transport has come to a halt, and ice has weighted down power lines.
>> Pray for comfort and protection for children and families in China who have survived the terrible storms across the country. Pray also for emergency teams, including World Vision's, to be able to quickly provide the aid these families desperately need.
>> Donate to World Vision's Disaster Response Fund. Your contribution will help us quickly assist families and children affected by sudden-onset disasters around the world.
