|||A CHANGED LIFE: Suryadi

In the squalor of an Indonesian slum, 13-year-old Suryadi has a dream that few children here share.

But thanks to World Vision child sponsorship, his dream of one day becoming an agricultural engineer has a real chance of coming true.

His sponsor is helping Suryadi attend school by paying for his books, fees, and uniforms. And he is able to have a nutritious and balanced diet along with fresh, clean water so that he is no longer too ill or weak to study.

Through a World Vision income-generating project, Suryadi's parents now earn the extra money they need to provide better care for their family.

Dreams are fragile among the poorest of the world's children. And without World Vision Sponsorship, Suryadi's dream would have shattered long ago.

A child's needs are almost always the needs of the family, and in turn, those of the community.

Sponsorship begins when community leaders determine the needs of children and families and invite World Vision to come alongside to help provide solutions.

By joining in partnership with people in local communities, World Vision empowers families to help bring about change themselves. A majority of World Vision field staff are local individuals who are best able to evaluate the needs of their community.

The result of this collaboration is sustainable improvements that will help children and their families for years to come.

Sponsors Joining Together

There's also another kind of partnering that takes place to meet the enormous challenge of changing a child's world. It's a partnership built on commitment and unity, one that that helps bring a sponsored child true hope for a better future.

Many things a sponsored child needs--a school, medical clinic, or even a well--would not be affordable with the support of one sponsor alone. But by combining the resources of many sponsors, those community improvements become possible.

This maximizing of funds allows doctors, teachers, agriculturalists, and Christian workers--along with necessary materials and technical equipment--to be available for the task of transforming a child's total living environment.

What you could never do on your own can be accomplished through the partnership support of many sponsors acting together through World Vision.
