 | Children who have experienced or witnessed violence are often left extremely traumatized. Since the end of the war in Bosnia, the daily life for many of its children includes attending school in a basement, avoiding land mines on the way to class, and dreaming of a peaceful future. While their makeshift classrooms look different than rooms they were accustomed to before the war, they still function as a place to learn and heal.
As Bosnia rebuilds its schools, many children lack the basic supplies needed to participate in classwork. School supplies provide Bosnian children with much more than just paper to write on, however. School kits containing notebooks, pencils, pens, and other necessities give children materials to use while recovering, learning, and preparing for a brighter future filled with hope and opportunity. |
