"It used to be too cold to sleep a lot of the time, so I am very happy about my blanket,” says eager, smiling four-year-old Kisa Magasege. “I can sleep easily now, without worrying about the cold.” she knows she has a One Life participant to thank for the warming gift. “This blanket comes from far away in a village called America,” she confidently explains. “Someone there sent me this blanket because they know I am a poor girl and I can’t afford to get one myself.” She goes on, weaving imaginative fantasies about what this ‘village’ called America might be like, happy to chirp like a songbird so long as anyone will listen. Kisa has been living with her grandparents since her mother died of AIDS-related diseases when she was just four months old. “When it’s cold here you need something to keep you warm – you can’t just use a kitenge [light cotton wrap]. At least with the blanket given by One Life Revolution I can be sure Kisa is snug and warm.” says Kisa's grandmother. | |||||||||||||||||
