FAQs

Why did my child leave World Vision’s sponsorship program?
A variety of life changes may result in a child’s withdrawal from our sponsorship program. These changes include:Why do World Vision sponsorship projects end?
At times, sponsorship ends when World Vision leaves an area because the program’s goals have been achieved with the help of generous sponsors like you. Becoming self-sustaining is a cause for celebration in the community. It also gives both World Vision and sponsors the opportunity to move on to other communities to help more children and families in need.

Can I send a farewell letter to my child?
If your child is no longer in the sponsorship program because his or her community has become self-sustaining, then yes, you are encouraged to send a farewell letter to your child.

Unfortunately, if your child is no longer in the sponsorship program for any other reason, you cannot send a farewell letter. The majority of the time, the reason the child is no longer available for sponsorship is because World Vision staff in the community have no way to contact him or her. We know it can be upsetting not to be able to send a farewell message to your sponsored child. However, please remember to continue to bless and support this child through your prayers.

What else can I do to help?
Now you have the wonderful opportunity to make the same kind of difference in another child’s life – a child who is waiting and hoping for your help.

Simply select the child you would like to begin sponsoring and complete the form that appears after you click the “sponsor now” button. You will not need to give any payment information, as your donations for your previous sponsored child will be transferred automatically to the new child.

You will then receive more information about the new child in the mail in 1-2 weeks.
