Help impoverished women entrepreneurs

Help tackle poverty one woman at a time. WILFund (Women's International Loan Fund) provides loans to entrepreneurial but impoverished women through a global capital fund.

An innovative process helps your gift to WILFund create lasting value and a true cycle of hope:
  • It is pooled with others' gifts and lent to a World Vision microfinance instituation (MFI)
  • The MFI loans it to an enterprising woman in need of capital
  • Her business grows and she repays the loan with interest
  • Your initial gift, plus interest, becomes available to lend again and again and helps scores of women expand their fledgling businesses
Here are examples of what typical loans can accomplish in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe or Latin America:
  • $54 provides a loan to purchase chickens for a woman's egg production enterprise
  • $100 helps a woman buy seeds and fertilizer to grow more crops to market in Ecuador
  • $202 buys and oilseed press in Zambia to extract sunflower and peanut oil for a woman to sell
  • $500 enables a woman in the Republic of Georgia to buy a washing machine for a laundry business
  • $1,000 provides eight women in Cambodia with a loan to expand their food-vending, vegetable-growing, and craft microenterprises
