Princess Kasune Zulu is an HIV/AIDS Educator in the Models of Learning Program of World Vision HIV/AIDS Hope Initiative in Zambia. In this role, Zulu trains World Vision staff and partner organizations to care for those with AIDS and teach prevention measures to Zambian children and youth. In addition, she serves as an international spokesperson on the global pandemic.

Zulu also hosted a nationally syndicated radio program called “Positive Living.” The show has helped listeners address issues and personal problems associated with the AIDS pandemic and has received honors from the U.S. Embassy in Zambia for excellence in broadcasting about AIDS.

Zulu lost both of her parents to AIDS, by the time she was 14 and was left to care for her young siblings. While HIV-related stigma and prohibitive treatment costs keep many from being tested, Zulu had herself tested for HIV when she was 21. When she discovered she had been infected, she went public with her HIV status. Fortunately, her two young daughters are HIV-negative.

Zulu speaks internationally about HIV/AIDS and World Vision’s Hope Initiative. Her speaking engagements have included Canada, Australia, and several U.S. cities including Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Seattle and Nashville. In April 2003, Zulu also attended a special meeting at the White House with President Bush to discuss the impact of the epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, she has met with British Prime Minister Tony Blair as well as the Irish Parliament.
