Copyright 2004 World Vision Inc. |  | Bruce Wilkinson is senior vice president for international programs at World Vision in the United States. In this role since January 1999, Wilkinson is responsible for funding World Vision’s development programs worldwide and supporting program quality, in cooperation with World Vision’s offices in those countries.
His staff acquires and manages U.S. government grants, corporate gifts-in-kind (donated goods) and funds contributed by private donors. In 2003, his office oversaw projects with combined funding of $530 million budget, including $178 million in government funds and commodities. Wilkinson also oversees the World Vision’s United States office of public policy and government relations.
From 1992 to 1998, Wilkinson served as World Vision’s regional director for West Africa. Based in Senegal, he oversaw relief and development efforts in eight countries.
Before joining World Vision, Wilkinson served four years as operations director for a relief and development projects funded by the U.S. Agency of International Development in Bamako, Mali. In 1986 and 1987, he served as a country representative to the Summer Institute of Linguistics in Bamako, managing linguistic research and literacy projects with the Malian government.
Wilkinson also spent three years serving with the Peace Corps and working as a business manager in Ghana.
He holds a bachelor of economics from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts and an MBA in international management from the University of Cambridge. In addition, he pursued graduate studies in international development and French at the University of Texas and the University of Geneva.
