Copyright 2004 World Vision Inc. |  | Marilee Pierce Dunker is a child sponsorship advocate for World Vision in the United States. Serving in this role since August 2002, Dunker educates churches and ministry partners about World Vision’s international child sponsorship program.
The daughter of World Vision’s founder, Bob Pierce, Dunker has worked for World Vision since January 2001, when she was appointed Western Regional Director of Women of Vision, a World Vision-sponsored volunteer ministry for women.
Before joining World Vision’s staff, Dunker served in a variety of roles including single’s minister, Bible study teacher, retreat speaker, author and radio personality. From 1975 to 1980, Dunker and her husband Bob pioneered the single adult ministries at The Church on the Way in Van Nuys, California. From 1989 to 1994, Marilee taught a weekly women’s Bible study in the San Francisco Bay area.
In 1979, Dunker wrote her first book, Man of Vision, Woman of Prayer (Thomas Nelson) about her parents, Bob and Lorraine Pierce, and the founding of World Vision. Three other books followed including A Braver Song to Sing (Zondervan, 1987) and Walker’s Point (Bethany House, 1997). Dunker also co-hosted “Focus on the Family” with Dr. James Dobson and hosted her own radio talk show, “Let’s Talk,” which aired in 1986.
Dunker has travelled to several countries where World Vision works including Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, Israel/Palestine, Korea and China.
She and her husband reside in the San Diego Area and have two grown daughters.
