This February, World Vision will introduce a new way to get involved: Vision Villages Trips. Participants in these weeklong trips will work side-by-side with Hondurans to build much-needed homes in the remote, mountainous region of Yamaranguila. No construction experience is necessary!

Ten trips will be conducted to Honduras between February and July with the goal of constructing 125 new homes. In addition to a very modest fee for trip expenses, each traveler will be asked to contribute $2,500 toward the construction of a home.

Many homes in Yamaranguila are in need of repair or replacement, partly because of Hurricane Mitch but also because the homes in this impoverished area are often run-down and pose significant health hazards. Many families live in one-room structures with dilapidated thatched roofs and dirt floors. The thatched roofs often contain bugs that transmit a debilitating illness called Chagas. A new home can bring comfort, happiness, and health to a family.

There’s more to these trips than just building homes. Participants will have a chance to visit and worship together with community members. And they’ll get a chance to see first-hand how World Vision enables a community to make the transition from poverty to abundance.

Our Vision Villages trips will surely change the hearts and lives of both participants and community members.
