|
| WHEN | | Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
|
| WHERE | | Manual High School
1700 E. 28th Ave.

|
| WHY | | Dedicated volunteers are trying to care for people living with AIDS and other preventable illnesses around the globe but, too often, poverty denies them the critical supplies they need to help prolong lives, comfort the sick, and protect themselves from infection. These unique kits are instrumental in providing otherwise inaccessible, basic products, including:
- Antibacterial soap
- Petroleum jelly
- Cotton balls
- Antifungal cream
- Disposable latex gloves
|
- Washcloths
- Notebooks and pens
- Flashlights and batteries
- Antidiarrheal medicine
- Acetaminophen
- Handwritten note of encouragement to the caregiver
|
By joining in the ONE-World Vision service project, convention-goers can help people living in the world’s most difficult conditions escape the brutal cycle of extreme poverty and preventable diseases. The Caregiver Kits are a simple, proven tool that gives trained caregiver volunteers the basic tools to help address urgent, preventable health challenges. These kits demonstrate how simple, inexpensive treatments can lead to improvement in the health and well-being of millions of people living in extreme poverty around the world.
|
| HOW | | Delegates will be offered round-trip transportation from the convention to the build site where they will receive participation instructions.
World Vision coordinates the bulk purchase of kit contents through its partnership with McKesson Corporation, world’s leading healthcare services company. The Caregiver Kits are shipped by World Vision to AIDS-affected communities in 20 of the nearly 100 countries where World Vision works. For more information about this World Vision program, visit www.worldvision.org/wvcarekits.
At the convention, delegates can learn more at the ONE Bus, which will be located near the convention hall and serve as the ONE Campaign’s convention headquarters.
