 Mozambique floods threaten evacuation areas, situation likely to worsen
Entire communities in Mozambique have been cut off from the rest of the country by flooding, according to leading international relief agency World Vision.
The rapidly rising waters have rendered roads to central Mozambique impassible, as well as destroyed homes and livestock, displaced families and caused outbreaks of disease.
World Vision says more than 60,000 people have lost their homes and have been evacuated to higher ground. Resettlement areas, which usually serve as safe places for evacuation, are now being threatened with flooding.
