Contact both of your state's senator and your member of Congress to tell them that you are concerned about the Sudanese people.
Write, call, fax or e-mail your Senators and Representative to:
express your concern about the ongoing food shortages in southern Sudan, to say that you do care about what happens in Sudan;
encourage the U.S. Government to continue to respond generously to the needs for food aid and other kinds of emergency aid;
request your members to call on the Government of Sudan to stop attacking civilians in southern Sudan; and
urge the U.S. Government to give diplomatic leadership to ongoing peace talks in the region to end the 16-year Sudanese civil war and achieve a just peace.
Tips for writing to members of Congress:
Be personal. A mailed handwritten letter receives greater attention than a preprinted card or letter. In whatever form, include your postal address so that you can receive a reply.
Be concise. Express clearly and briefly what the issue you are writing about is, and why it is important to you. A couple of paragraphs should be enough.
Be specific. Request a specific action or set of actions for your Member to respond to.
