This paper also recommends actions the international community can take to help move this desperate country toward peace.

Sudan: Cry the Divided Country highlights the issues surrounding Africa's longest-running civil war, in which over 1.3 million people have died since 1982, and offers specific recommendations to US policymakers to help bring the conflict to a peaceful resolution.

It was written by policy advisor Kate Almquist and is based on field research in Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
