Toys Donated to Oklahoma City Memorial Sent to Iraqi Children

Children in Iraq traumatized by years of a brutal regime and the recent war will soon receive 1,000 stuffed animals and dolls courtesy of the Oklahoma City National Memorial.

The shipment includes toys that were left at the memorial since 1995. Each toy includes a tag, in English and Arabic, explaining the Oklahoma City bombing and expressing a desire that the Iraqi children receiving the toys understand that many Americans are concerned for them.

“Stuffed animals are universal,” said World Vision’s Elaine Bole, who recently returned from Iraq. “They have no social, political or religious boundaries. Iraqi children will love them as much as American children would.”

The toys were sent with a World Vision shipment of relief supplies for Iraqi families on July 30.
