Students in Western Iraq Back in Class with New School Building, Renovated Classrooms Community leaders, construction workers, teachers, students and World Vision staff celebrated the opening of a primary school in western Iraq in early November. In addition, teachers and principals at several other local schools have reported higher attendance rates they attribute to renovations funded by World Vision.World Vision has completed the rehabilitation of all 12 primary and secondary schools in one community. Schools were re-plastered, painted, re-wired and had ceiling fans, light fittings, blackboards installed. “In the last few years, children were not comfortable,” said the principal of a primary school for girls. “Now they have a new school. Some didn’t even recognize it!” “Many children who quit school have started to come again,” said one teacher. “Some kids say the school is better than the house they live in.” | |||||||||
