| It may surprise Americans to learn that Katrina wasn’t the deadliest hurricane last year. That dubious distinction goes to Hurricane Stan, which hit southern Mexico and Central America in October. About two-thousand people died in that disaster. In the Mexican state of Chiapas, the hurricane destroyed more than 40,000 homes. People there say they’ve been forgotten, and that the Mexican government is more concerned about rebuilding the tourist mecca of Cancun. A hurricane hit there at around the same time. Our Mexico correspondent Conrad Fox reports. |
