Rats are a modern day plague in many parts of India. They can sweep through entire fields of rice and wheat and devastate crops. In southern India, the problem is so serious that a whole profession exists just for catching rats.

Journalist Anuj Chopra reported for the San Francisco Chronicleon an advance that is helping the lot of the Irula, a tribe that has been catching rats for centuries.
