Martin Luther King called her the queen of American folk music. During her life, Odetta inspired millions with her music, which she used to protest inequality and injustice.
Odetta was scheduled to sing at Barack Obama’s inauguration in January, but on December 2, at the age of 77, she died as a result of heart disease. Her voice will be missed. |
