Afghan Exchange Student
Listen to the:
Some call it “Generation T.” That’s the generation of young people who grew up in Afghanistan under the Taliban. One of those young people has spent the last year in San Antonio, Texas as an exchange student. Reporter Will Everett follows him as he travels home to Afghanistan and remnants of the Taliban. The first time he met the Taliban he and his father were beaten up for being in the wrong ethnic group. The Taliban left the student’s hometown six years ago, but the land mines they left behind kill or maim someone almost every week. The exchange student wants to get a college education -- in the U.S. -- then return to Afghanistan to help those injured by the Taliban.
